Abstract

Our world is made by organic molecules which interact with each other regulating several aspects of our life. Molecular approach helps in understanding how these processes occur and how we can modulate them is a challenging task. In this talk I will present two different aspects on the contribution of Organic Chemistry. Small organometallic molecules able to interact with selected proteins play a crucial role in neuroblastoma, a highly aggressive and common cancer in childhood age. I will show how to design, select and synthesize more efficient molecules based on the combination of X-ray crystallography data, docking analysis and biological assays. A second highlight will be focused on the properties of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents in stabilizing the secondary structure of DNA in aqueous solution analyzing data by circular dichroism, UV and Synchrotron-based Ultraviolet Resonance Raman (UVRR) spectroscopy.
